Everything you need to know about planning a ZOOM wedding
Given COVID-19 and the protocol surrounding the pandemic, ZOOM weddings are still a great option, and you can always host a larger ceremony or reception in person later on. ZOOM wedding are a nice way to gather your closest friends, make it easy and comfortable for them to celebrate your day, and while it's always better to be together in person, virtual weddings can still be festive and joyful. We've listed a few key questions to consider if you've decided on the ZOOM wedding route:
MAKE SURE IT'S LEGAL
Some counties have not yet legalized virtual or ZOOM weddings. Make sure you do your research and gather all the necessary paperwork to ensure that you're able to legally tie the knot in a digital space.
UPGRADE AND BACKUP
Upgrade your ZOOM account to pro and/or purchase any necessary upgrades to make sure that you have all available options, for example, unlimited time. Second, you'll need fast, reliable Internet service and for those who might not know how to use ZOOM, someone on hand to FaceTime the ceremony. It's also helpful to have a few laptops or tablets on hand, just in case.
A ZOOM WEDDING PLANNER?
Just because you're getting married on Zoom doesn't mean you shouldn't use a wedding planner to make the day go smoothly. A great planner can manage everything, including the flow of the ceremony, online toasts, music, decor and even tech glitches.
GETTING PERSONAL WITH YOUR GUESTS
Sending invitations and wedding favors shows guests your gratitude and connects them more deeply to the ceremony, even from afar. We love the idea of making your own celebration "kits" and sending them to your guests prior to your wedding day. (Kits could include a Polaroid camera, miniature champagne bottles, flower petals to throw post "I dos," and anything else that resonates with your nearest and dearest.
CHOOSING A DATE & TIME
We've found it best to pick a date and time on a weekend day or evening, since many are working from home or caring for little ones during the weekday.
